Dr Rickie Elliott

Dr Rickie Elliott is a warm, knowledgeable and down-to-earth Clinical Psychologist, with 21 years of training and experience in assessing and treating a wide variety of child, adolescent and adult mental health conditions. Rickie has previously worked at Newcastle Adult Mental Health Service; Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centres; Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services; Coral Tree Family Service (an inpatient family therapy service for children and their families with severe behavioural and emotional disorders); Perinatal Psychiatry Service; Occupational rehabilitation services; Parent and Infant Mental Health Service; First Steps Parenting Service; and private practice. 

Dr Elliott is highly experienced in providing Mental Health First Aid Australia and other workplace trainings to large organisations. She is also frequently requested to provide clinical and business consultation to support local and state-wide businesses to develop positive cultures, support workplace wellbeing, increase efficiency and profit, develop programs and operating systems and to develop positive mental health practices and in doing so to grow and thrive. 

Dr Elliott provides expert witness diagnostic and family reports to advocate for the needs and rights of children who find themselves in the middle of high conflict parental separation. 

Rickie completed her Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honors, awarded a faculty medal for her academic achievements and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Newcastle. Rickie has published articles in the World Association of Infant Mental Health Journal. Last year Rickie was recently awarded regional leadership award for excellence in contribution to the community from the University of Newcastle. Rickie was also a panelist on the National Mental Health Commission Expert Panel advising the Australian Government’s national policy and funding directives in 2020.
